What Should We Do With Waste Plastics?

Plastic products are everywhere in our daily life and agricultural production. When the lifespan or purpose of use of these plastic products is reached, they will be discarded and become waste plastics. Of course, the source of waste plastics is not limited to this. Waste or discarded plastics will be generated in every link of plastic synthesis, molding, circulation and consumption. The phenomenon that these non-degradable waste plastics are discarded at will and pollute the environment is vividly called “white pollution”. What should we do with these waste plastics?

waste plastics

Now, there are mainly 4 disposal methods of waste plastics: Landfill, incineration, granulation and pyrolysis.

1. Landfill

Landfill is a traditional method, which is simple and crude but also has greater hidden dangers and hazards. Because plastic has a low density, large volume and is difficult to decompose, it is a very unscientific and environmentally unfriendly method.

2. Incineration

Incineration is a widely used method that can generate a large amount of heat energy, but it also produces a large amount of toxic gases and releases harmful substances. It requires a matching flue gas purification system to effectively control secondary pollution.

3. Granulation

Recycling granulation is a physical method in which waste plastics are broken down into small particles through mechanical processing and then made into new plastic products. This method is environmentally friendly but is not suitable for plastic films, small plastic bags and other laminated plastics.

4. Pyrolysis

The pyrolysis, also known as thermal cracking, is a chemical decomposition method. This technology is used to convert waste plastics into high-value-added energy products such as fuel oil, carbon black, and combustible gas.

During the implementation of the above treatment methods, it is inevitable that some waste plastics are too large to facilitate the subsequent process. At this time, the help of the crusher and shredder is needed.

The waste plastics can be sent to the double shaft shredder first. The double shaft shredder drives the two knife shafts to rotate forward and backward through the motor to shear and tear the materials, thereby crushing the waste plastics to a certain size. If you think the output plastic particle is still large, you might as well send the material to the fine crusher. The material will be cut by the knife particles that make circular motion on the main shaft and the fixed toothed fixed knife. Finally, after various process treatments by skilled craftsmen, the waste plastics are transformed into recycled plastics, or used for blast furnace injection instead of coal, oil and coke, used in cement rotary kilns instead of coal to burn cement, and made into RDF fuel for power generation.
